The project is promoted by the National Park of Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise with the participation of WWF Italy, State Forestry Corps, University of Rome La Sapienza, Abruzzo Region, Lazio Region, Lombardy Region, Friuli Venezia Giulia Autonomous Region, Autonomous Province of Trento and Adamello Brenta Nature Park.
The primary objective of the initiative is the implementation of management practices and protocols to ensure the long-term preservation of brown bear populations present in Italy. In particular, it is based on the identification, development and sharing of experiences, methods and tools useful for an effective safeguard of the species.
The LIFE + Arctos project started on 09/01/2010 and ended on 08/31/2014.
