Geopark

In 2008 the Adamello Brenta Geopark became part of the European and World Geoparks Network of UNESCO.

In 2015 UNESCO launched the International Program for Geoparks and Geosciences (IGGP) which awards the UNESCO Global Geoparks. Thus intensifying activities for geosciences (IGCP) at the international level and collaboration with the World Geoparks Network.

The recognition of the Adamello Brenta Natural Park as a Geopark is a proof of the richness and extraordinary nature of its geological heritage. It also confirms the validity of the work which has always been oriented towards the sustainable development of the territory starting from the people who live there.

The Adamello Brenta Geopark covers the entire surface of the Adamello Brenta Nature Park, the territory of 30 municipalities and covers an area of 1188 km2.

It has received 3 UNESCO awards:
MAB – Man and Biosphere Program: Ledrensi and Giudicarie Alps
WHS – World Heritage Site: the Brenta Dolomites and 8 other Dolomite groups in 5 provinces
UNESCO Global Geopark: the Adamello Brenta Geopark.
