Ibexes are present in the territory of the Park thanks to a reintroduction project promoted by the institution in 1995, characterized by two phases: one on the Adamello Massif and the other on the Presanella. Forty-three specimens – equipped with radio collars and ear tags to make them recognizable – were released in areas considered appropriated by the Wildlife Plan and by the feasibility study.

ADAMELLO
Twenty-three specimens from the Maritime Alps Natural Park (Cuneo) and from Monzoni Massif (Trento) were released in Val di San Valentino (Adamello Massif). After the capture, occurred with the telenarcosis technique, ibexes were submitted to health checks, to prevent the possible spread of diseases and tagged with coloured and numbered ear tags to indicate the area of origin. They were released near Malga Praino (1650 m asl).

PRESANELLA
In Val Genova (Presanella Massif), two different groups were released: ten specimens coming from Maritime Alps Natural Park (Cuneo) and other ten from the Monzoni Massif. All the ibexes, were marked with coloured ear tags. The ten ibexes coming from the Marmolada Mountain Range were released on the same day of the capture. The release occurred near the Hotel – Restaurant Stella Alpina
