Ancient quartz quarries from which the mineral destined to glass production was extracted to be used at glassworks during the 19th century.
Quartz was mined in the ancient quarries of Giustino. These quarries knew the period of greatest exploitation in the 1800s. The quartz was used in the glass industry which was very widespread at the time in the Giudicarie valleys. There was abundance of quartz together with the water to move millstones and wood to feed furnaces. As a result, the glass industry and its culture became flourishing in this area.
